Katie Taylor's sweet gesture to young Dublin fan as boxer is hailed an 'amazing role model'

Katie Taylor has made a young Dublin fan's dream come through ahead of her big homecoming match against Chantelle Cameron in Dublin's 3Arena.

36-year-old Katie is set to fight in her first professional bout in Ireland on May 20 in the 3Arena. There were a number of failed attempts to bring the fight to Croke Park but due to issues including cost, the pair will match up at Dublin Port's 3Arena instead to a smaller crowd.

The 2012 Olympic gold medalist recently paid a visit to Arbour Hill Boxing Club in Stoneybatter, Dublin, when a little girl came up to her and playfully asked the boxing champ to take part in a race. In a sweet video shared on Twitter by Matchroom, the little girl asks Katie: "Can we do a race outside?"

In response, Katie showed her competitive side by saying: "Do you think you can beat me in a race?" to which the girl confidently says "yes."

Bray native Katie has also featured in the Matchroom's 'Make The Days Count' documentary, and reflected on how boxing has changed in Ireland ahead of her upcoming fight in the 3Arena. She said in the clip: "If you go around every single boxing club now up and down the country it's packed with female boxers.

"That to me is just an amazing legacy to pass on." Katie Taylor v Chantelle Cameron will take place in the 3Arena on May 20 with doors open from 4pm.

Currently, Katie Taylor is at 4/7 to while Cameron can be found at odds of 11/8. A draw is currently 14/1.
