Katie, who played the much-loved character Sinead Osbourne in Coronation Street from 2013 to 2019, credited her glam team including her stylist friend Ryan Kay for her look. And she gave a credit to the Barbara Boutique in Dubai for her 'glow.'
Speaking to the Manchester Evening News on the red carpet Katie, who attended the awards with her friend Lee Bennett, said: "One thing I said is that I really need some tissues. I'm so excited to be here."
She added: "I love Manchester. We're both from Manchester. This is our home. To see the best, amazing people tell their stories I'm so excited."
Katie was highly-praised for her portrayal of new mum and newlywed Sinead as the ITV soap aired some of its most harrowing scenes. Viewers were heartbroken as Sinead slipped away after she battled cervical cancer in an awareness-raising storyline.
At the 2020 National Television Awards she won best serial drama performance and dedicated the award to her late grandad. “I want to thank someone who is not here tonight. My grandad, who passed away,” she began.
“He always supported me through acting, he took me to all my acting classes and auditions. When I was younger and I got my first TV role he said, that’s brilliant Katie. I said, are you happy grandad? He said 'yes I am happy with that. 'But when are you going to get on Coronation Street?'"
She added: “In all seriousness I want to dedicate this award to any woman who is going through cervical cancer right now, who has gone through cervical cancer, all the families that are going through it, stay strong.”
