The family of Katie Kenyon have spoken of their “heart-breaking nightmare” following her death.
Ms Kenyon, 33, from Padiham, Burnley, was last seen about 30am on April 22, when it is thought she travelled in a van towards the Bolton-by-Bowland area of Lancashire.
Police said officers discovered her body on Friday night in an area of the Forest of Bowland after receiving new information.
A post-mortem examination found the cause of death was head injuries.
Her family have now launched a fundraising appeal in a bid to raise £10,000 for Ms Kenyon’s “send off”.
They said they are in a “heartbreaking nightmare” and that the mother-of-two was “taken away from her children and family far too soon”.
The family added that the funds will also be used for Ms Kenyon’s son and daughter "and their future to fulfil Katie’s dreams she had planned with her children".
Ms Kenyon was described as "a mum, daughter, granddaughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, friend and animal lover".
It added: "Thank you for all your kind words and support. We know you’re all behind us".
A statement from the police said: "Our thoughts remain with Katie’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.
"The family continues to be supported by our trained officers."
On Friday, Andrew Burfield, 50, of Burnley, appeared in court via videolink charged with Ms Kenyon’s murder. He was remanded in custody to face trial in November.
