- British tennis star Katie Boulter got off to a winning start at the China Open on Wednesday as she looks to finish a difficult season on a high.
- Boulter took on Japan’s Mai Hontama and managed to secure a 6-3, 6-4 victory to progress to the round of 64.
- Boulter now faces the daunting challenge of taking on Wimbledon finalist Karolina Muchova in the next round.
- Muchova is the No 7 seed and made the French Open final in 2023, while she is also a former Australian and US Open semi-finalist.
- Boulter has struggled for large parts of the 2026 season, and only managed one win in grand slams this year.
