It’s an honor worthy of a Titanic star.
Kate Winslet on Sunday will present Helen Mirren with the 2021 SAG Life Achievement Award at the 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, according to a press release Thursday.
The annual award honors an actor who furthers the “finest ideals of the acting profession.”
Mirren, 76, was announced as the honoree last month as Winslet, 46, was revealed to be among the nominees. The latter is nominated for outstanding performance by a female actor in a television movie or limited series for the titular role in HBO miniseries, “Mare of Easttown.”
Dame Helen Mirren, who took home the Academy Award for Best Actress for 2007′s “The Queen” and has three other Oscar nominations to her name, is so far “the most decorated SAG Life Achievement recipient,” the release said, pointing to her 13 SAG Awards nominations and five wins.
Those wins include three for film and two for television. Two of the former were for “Gosford Park” — one of which was for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture — and one was for her work in “The Queen.” Mirren also won for her performances in the miniseries “Elizabeth I” and the TV film, “Phil Spector.”
Like Mirren, Winslet has also garnered 13 total SAG Awards nominations, with three wins: for the films “Sense and Sensibility” and “The Reader” — for which she also won the best actress Oscar — and in the miniseries, “Mildred Pierce.”
This year’s SAG nominees were dominated by Apple+’s heartwarming series, “Ted Lasso,” as well as HBO’s black comedy, “Succession.”
Despite their A-list status and critical acclaim, Mirren and Winslet have only co-starred in the critically panned New York-set romantic drama, “Collateral Beauty.” The two are both L’Oréal Paris ambassadors though, something Mirren was very excited to announce last June.
While she regularly takes to Instagram to welcome new additions to the cosmetic brand’s team — and last year assured fans Winslet “is totally #worthit” — Mirren has yet to post about her upcoming honor.
In January though, she did make sure to alert her 1 million followers to a Panettone she purchased, captioned, “Simply the best. what do you call a Panettone lover? there must be a word.”
