Kate Winslet has devastated The Holiday fans with her response to sequel rumours.
The actress has shut down any chance of the film making a comeback as Kate said the original cast members won't be making a follow up.
Fans went crazy after it was reported stars Cameron DIaz, 50, Jude Law, 49, Kate Winslet, 47, and Jack Black, 53, were all on board for the sequel.
However, Kate, who played journalist Iris in the rom-com, said she has read the rumours but there is no truth to them.
The film follows two separate love stories that intertwine in the end.
Kate told People : "I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it. I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that. Hand on heart, that’s never come up."
Writer and director of The Holiday Nancy Meyers also took to Instagram to debunk rumors of a sequel, writing: "So many DM’s about this - sorry but it’s not true."
The original movie, which was written and directed by Meyers, told the story of Surrey-based journalist Iris who swaps homes with Amanda (Cameron Diaz) who is a movie producer from Hollywood.
The women have both had recent heartbreaks and want to get away from their usual lives.
While in Surrey, Amanda finds romance with Iris's book editor brother, widower Graham (Jude Law).
Meanwhile Iris meets Miles (played by Jack Black) and dates him.
When the sequel was rumoured, it was thought that it would follow the lovebirds and see how they're all getting on 16 years after originally finding love with each other
.When the rumours were first sparked, The Sun reported that a source said: " T he plan is to start rolling on scenes next year, primarily in the U.K. and in Europe, but the main talent are all signed up and on board.
"It’s one of the most successful movies of its kind and still enjoyed every year by millions of fans around the world – it makes perfect sense to revisit those characters and find out what became of their lives after they hooked up. It’ll be funny, poignant, and heartwarming – just what everyone wants for Christmas."
The movie cost £70 million to make but went on to earn over £200 million at the box office.
It is now a seasonal staple every year and the cottage used as the exterior for Iris' English abode is a big attraction for film fans.
