Kate Middleton shocks Eurovision fans with surprise piano appearance

Kate Middleton surprised Eurovision fans with an appearance during the opening sequence of the finals. The Princess of Wales joined a number of high-profile names to film a short clip playing the piano, which was televised to millions across the world on Saturday May 13 at 8pm.

This year's opening sequence featured last year's winners, Ukraine. Kalush Orchestra, performed their winning entry, Stefania, from the Maidan Nezalezhnosti metro station in the heart of Kyiv, Ukraine, reports the Mirror. They were joined by an array of famous faces from across the UK including Andrew Lloyd Webber, Princess Kate, Sam Ryder, Ms Banks, Ballet Black, Bolt Strings and Joss Stone.

The Princess’ contribution to the film involved a short, instrumental piano performance, created by Joe Price and Kojo Samuel, and was recorded earlier this month. Her short segment was recorded in the Crimson Drawing Room of Windsor Castle.

Kate looked gorgeous in a royal blood one-shoulder gown as she performed on the piano. She styled her brown locks in loose waves that cascaded over her shoulders

The gorgeous royal completed the look with simple makeup and a pair of dangly earrings. Fans were delighted at her surprise appearance and took to Twitter, with one writing: "Sorry - was that Kate Middleton looking glorious playing the piano on @Eurovision?"

"Omg a Kalush Orchestra and Sam Ryder mashup. And Kate Middleton playing the piano?! What?!" One user said.

Another posted: "KATE MIDDLETON AND ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER IN THE STEFANIA INTRO???? ALREADY CHAOS I'M LOVING IT."

It's not the first time Kate has impressed the public with her piano skills. In December 2021, she surprised fans with a beautiful piano performance at her Christmas carol concert.

Kate, who has played the piano since she was a child and took comfort in it during the Covid lockdowns, joined singer Tom Walker for a performance of his song For Those Who Can't Be Here at her Royal Carols: Together at Christmas event.

Speaking about the experience of working with her, he said: “It was truly an honour playing alongside The Duchess for Royal Carols: Together at Christmas. Without a doubt, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

"I thought she absolutely smashed the performance; it's not easy to just jump behind a piano with a bunch of musicians you've never played with before and record live takes to camera, but she completely nailed it."
