Sending Prince George to away to boarding school would be "sad" and will "tell us a lot" about the Prince and Princess of Wales, a royal expert has claimed.
The 10-year-old future King currently attends Lambrook School as a day pupil close to the family home in Windsor alongside sister Princess Charlotte and brother Prince Louis.
However, with his teenage years fast approaching, William and Kate appear to be pondering George's future education - and a few weeks ago, they were spotted touring Eton College.
Prince William also attended the historic boys' school near Windsor as a child from 1995, as did his younger brother Prince Harry. And if George does become a pupil, it is likely Louis will too when he is old enough.
All pupils at Eton are required to be boarders, which would be a marked change for George, who so far has been able to remain at home with his parents - and for former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond, it will be a big decision for the couple.
Speaking to OK!, she explained: "The choice of school for the children will tell us a lot about William and Catherine. So far, they've been such hands-on parents, and, personally, I think it would be sad to see them send their children away to boarding school.
"I would applaud a decision to keep them as day pupils at schools nearby their home. But I think both William and Catherine were happy at boarding school. I suppose it's what they know and perhaps they will want to pass this experience on to their children.
"I imagine it will be all or nothing - in other words, all three will go away to school, or none of them. I will be cheering loudly if they decide to keep their children close and nurture them through their adolescence as they have nurtured them through the young years."
Fees for Eton are a staggering £15,432 per term - according to the school's website - with a £400 fee just for registering, although scholarships are offered to pupils who pass an exam.
It is one of three public schools to have remained boys only, alongside Harrow and Radley, and has educated the likes of George Orwell and Eddie Redmayne. It also counts 20 British Prime Ministers among its alumni, including Boris Johnson and David Cameron.
As the school is boys-only, Charlotte will have to attend a different school and there are several they could choose from. She could attend St Mary's School in Ascot - the former school of William's cousin, Lady Louise Windsor, who is now a student at St Andrews University in Scotland.
Another option is Kate's previous school Marlborough College in Wiltshire, where she is said to have loved her time there. Other notable alumni include Princess Eugenie and the comedian Jack Whitehall.
