Kate Middleton has a strict condition for Prince George in 'key' Coronation role for King Charles

People will be watching across the country as the official Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla gets underway in just a few months' time.

The memorable day will see members of the royal family play vital roles in the key day in history, including the future king to the throne Prince William.

And he is not believed to be the only future King in attendance at the grand event on May 6. His nine-year-old son Prince George who he shares with wife Kate, will also more than likely be there to watch his grandfather be crowned in the historic day.

The Mirror reports that Charles is eager for his eldest grandson to play a role in the ceremony. But it has been suggested that the royal sprog's parents William and Kate Middleton have a strict condition on what part he will play.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are due to meet with Charles and Camilla soon to discuss a role for George, reports the Sunday Times.

And even though all are said to be keen for him to feature, William and Kate reportedly want the role to not "subject him to overwhelming scrutiny".

If the nine-year-old does take part in the historical ceremony, it would mark a break in tradition as during the past two ceremonies, young heirs (Charles and late Elizabeth II) did not take part and watched from the congregation.

Royal historian Hugo Vickers told the Sunday Times: "Bringing George in also sends all the right symbolism for the future and gives him something he will always remember. It is certainly different — this coronation is getting more interesting by the minute."

According to The Telegraph, the Duke and Duchess' younger children Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, will also be among those in the congregation as spectators to the event at Westminster Abbey.

Historian Dr Tessa Dunlop previously told the Mirror history points to the children also being seen in their finery alongside the adults at the Coronation.

She said: "George alongside siblings Charlotte and Louis will be a big visual pull at the coronation – just as Prince Charles was at his mother's.

"Expect Charlotte in a dainty coronet [small crown] - perhaps even the one the late Queen wore to her father's coronation aged 10 - and the two brothers in frock coats and breeches.

"Kate loves dressing up her children, so objections are unlikely. And the money shot everyone will want is a snap of the three siblings in their finery alongside the King and the Queen on Buckingham Palace balcony after the service."

The final official guest list and the roles all the members of the royal family will be responsible for at the Coronation are yet to be confirmed.
