Kate Middleton follows late Queen's number one fashion rule and it doesn't let her down

Kate Middleton's most recent outing has seen her give a nod to the late Queen Elizabeth II after taking some of her style tips.

24 years after she stepped into the spot light after becoming Prince William's girlfriend, the Princess is no stranger to being the star of the show.

The Princess of Wales has always been known for her impeccable dress sense and style, but recently she's shown a change which Her Majesty also used to implement, OK reports.

In the past few months, Kate has been pictured wearing colour blocked outfits, similar to Queen who famously wore blocked outfits during her state engagements as it helps them be seen easier by the public.

The surprise truth behind the fashion choices were unearthed in a new documentary dubbed The Queen at 90, which will see her daughter-in-law Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, open up about the bold colour choices.

Sophie explains: “She needs to stand out for people to be able to say, ‘I saw the queen'.

“Don’t forget that when she turns up somewhere, the crowds are two, three, four, 10, 15 deep, and someone wants to be able to say they saw a bit of the queen’s hat as she went past.”

Since the Queen's passing, members of the royal family taking on a variety of new roles since her death - including Kate, who has been active at a number of public engagements this year.

Following in The Queen’s footsteps, Kate has also begun to wear more colour blocked outfits, including a green ensemble from the Irish Guards St Patrick's Day parade back in March.

Not only did this stunning teal outfit allow Kate to follow the Queen’s rule and remain visible to all in attendance, it also held a special poignance and tribute to the battalion she was visiting, as green was a colour selected to honour Ireland in particular.
