Kate Garraway has said that her colleague Susanna Reid was routinely "attacked" when Piers Morgan worked on Good Morning Britain.
The 54-year-old revealed that when Piers said something inflammatory on the ITV show, Susanna would be slammed for "not keeping him in check".
She and co-host Ben Shephard had been discussing Wayne and Coleen Rooney's new documentary with former Labour MP Jacqui Smith and ex-Tory MP Ruth Davidson.
Discussing the negative reaction that Coleen had been hit with for staying with Wayne despite her husband's cheating, Kate said: "It was interesting how [Wayne] had picked up on something that I think we've all picked on which is when he's had indiscretions, made mistakes, obviously he's been criticised for it but she is as well in a kind of, 'Why are you forgiving him? Why are you keeping him under control?' It's interesting how women often get accused of it.
"It reminds me a little bit of when Piers Morgan was here, they'd be cross with something Piers had said, but then also attack Susanna for not keeping him in check!"
Piers famously clashed with co-star Alex Beresford on the ITV show after his remarks about Meghan Markle following her interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Piers launched into a furious tirade the next day, saying he was "sickened" by their "two-hour trash-a-thon".
In the interview, the Duchess of Sussex had suggested that a member of the royal family had expressed "concerns" over baby Archie's skin colour and that she had felt suicidal after receiving little help from 'The Firm'.
But Piers dismissed both of Meghan's claims and suggested that she was lying, leading to weatherman Alex hitting out at the host on Twitter.
Piers later invited Alex onto the show the next day to discuss it, but the pair became embroiled in a furious row and the presenter stormed off.
He later quit the show after claiming ITV wanted him to apologise for his remarks, but he refused.
