Kate Garraway says no one will be surprised to learn she's 'stressed and tired'

Kate Garraway opened up about feeling 'stressed and tired' whilst presenting Good Morning Britain on Thursday.

The mother-of-two hasn't had the easiest couple of years after her husband Derek Draper was admitted to hospital with Covid back in March 2020.

By June 2020 Derek remained in critical condition after ten weeks, and was in an induced coma.

Derek didn't return home until April 2021, but still couldn't move and in September 2021, Kate confirmed that he was still receiving round-the-clock care and sleeping 20 hours a day.

More recently, Derek received treatment in Mexico in February and March of this year but Kate has decided to keep details private.

Speaking last month, Kate said her husband was still struggling to speak but "he can understand, sometimes do odd words, but can't express himself".

As she and her co-host Ben Shephard welcomed actor Jonathan Pryce into the GMB studio on Thursday, they discussed dementia and the importance of an early diagnosis.

They were also joined by Doctor Hilary Jones and Kate was keen to get his take on it.

Kate said: "Hilary, you're at the sharp end, you're in the GP practice when people come to you with things they're concerned about...

"I mean putting your keys in the wrong place, not remembering where you've put your phone, I've even put a tin of beans in a fridge when I've been tired and stressed - nobody will be surprised about that!

"That might mean I'm stressed, it might mean I'm tired, but it doesn't necessarily mean I've got dementia?" she continued.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV Hub.
