Kate Ferdinand has admitted she worries her husband isn't very excited about her pregnancy.
The former TOWIE star is currently expecting her second child with Rio Ferdinand, who is also a doting dad to three older children from his marriage to late wife Rebecca Ellison.
As the happy couple announced the gender of their unborn baby this morning, Kate recalled how she struggled with emotions when carrying their first child Cree and felt Rio 'didn't even acknowledge' she was pregnant for the first few months of her journey.
Rio tried to justify his lack of emotion as Kate shared her fears - comparing his understated reaction to a similar experience when he signed for Manchester United in 2002.
Kate and Rio revealed they are expecting a baby girl later this year on Kate's podcast this morning - recalling how their gender reveal for their family didn't exactly go to plan.
After Rio explained how the cute cupcake-themed bash was 'bedlam', talk then turned to Kate's previous pregnancy with their youngest son Cree.
"We're just so excited," Kate gushed on the special edition of her Blended podcast, adding: "I can't believe we're going to have another baby - we're going to have five children!"
Rio then jokingly accused Kate of "getting the hump with him" - claiming his wife doesn't believe he can get excited over her pregnancy due to already having four kids.
Kate recalled feeling "a bit cuckoo" with Cree but felt Rio "didn't acknowledge she was pregnant for three to four months" - adding she feared Rio "didn't care" as it was his fourth child.
The star shares son Cree, two, with her husband, alongside Rio's three children with his late wife Rebecca Ellison; Lorenz, 16, Tate, 14, and Tia, 11.
"I was so excited when I was pregnant with Cree but I felt like you just did not care," Kate told Rio on the latest episode of her podcast.
"When there was no bump there was no baby in your eyes, for at least three to four months.
"I started getting really emotional thinking 'he doesn't care, it's his fourth child' and that all happened with Cree - we didn't quite agree."
She adds: "You said you did, I said you didn't - we all moved on."
Rio then went on to explain how when he signed for Manchester United the club's manager Sir Alex Ferguson worried his new star signing wasn't happy, due to Rio not showing much emotion.
"I find it hard to.... I don't show my emotions like that and I don't know why," he added when reassuring Kate.
Kate has previously spoken about being a step-mum and navigating life with a Blended family.
Writing on social media in 2021, ahead of launching Blended, the star stated: "I have 4 children, if you suggest I have 1, I will correct you.
"If you treat 1 of them different to the other 3 I will also have a big problem, I believe all 4 of the children should be treated equally."
She added: "If you ask if I am their mum I will say I am their step mum & although they are not biologically mine I still see them as my children; it’s my job to nurture & care for them and make sure they are given all the love the deserve."
