Kate Abdo leaves Jamie Carragher in stitches with joke at Micah Richards' expense

CBS broadcaster Kate Abdo had Jamie Carragher in stitches after making a joke at Micah Richards ' expense to open coverage of the UEFA Champions League Final.

All eyes were on Istanbul as Manchester City aimed to complete an incredible treble against Inter Milan having already won the Premier League and FA Cup. Their bid to emulate arch rivals Manchester United, the last English side to win the treble back in 1999, was being watched by millions around the world.

And over in the United States, a CBS broadcast team of Abdo, Carragher, Richards and Thierry Henry was hosting the final, with Abdo opening the show by cracking a savage joke at Richards' expense.

When introducing Carragher, Henry and Richards, Abdo said: "Tonight, I am joined by of stars. Of France, a World Cup winner with a statue honouring him in North London, monsieur Thierry Henry.

"One of Liverpool's most famous sons, his biggest night of his career with his beloved Reds here in Istanbul, Jamie Carragher.

"And a man who helped launch a football dynasty and is an icon in Manchester now and around the world ... the one and only Peter Schmeichel will be joining us later ... and Micah Richards is here too".

The joke left Henry giggling as Carragher burst out laughing and Richards also saw the funny side. Abdo then also asked if Richards if he'd flown his own barber out to Istanbul for his hair, which he confirmed that he had as Carragher and Henry laughed.

The four have been lauded as one of the best broadcasting teams in football, with the show having a more laid-back style of analysing, taking time to crack jokes at one another while having fun with different segments while also analysing the game being shown.

Fellow broadcaster, Canadian Ariel Helwani tweeted: "The paramountplus studio team of @KateAbdo, Thierry Henry, @Carra23 & @MicahRichards is so damn good. Entertaining but also always keeping it real. Love watching them. Closest thing we have to the Inside the NBA vibe, and that crew is the greatest in TV history."
