Karren Brady baffled by 'cruel' King Charles backlash over Harry and Meghan eviction

The Apprentice’s Karren Brady has been left baffled over why King Charles has been branded ‘cruel’ over his decision to evict Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from Frogmore Cottage.

The 53-year-old Baroness has spoken out about the reaction against the King following the decision, in which he requested for the pair to vacate Frogmore Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

In her latest column in The Sun , Karren addressed King Charles’ choice and stated that she did not believe that they should be so “upset” about the news.

Writing under the headline, “King’s not so cruel”, Karren noted that the parents-of-two - who own a $12 million mansion in Montecito, California - have been seemingly been “bad mouthing Britain”, so may not want to spend time in their former five-bedroom country home.

The business expert said: “They certainly don’t give the impression they want to spend any time in the five-bedroom cottage in the country they seemingly despise.

“The fact is that since leaving to begin their new life, Harry and Meghan have barely paused for breath when it comes to bad-mouthing Britain.”

She also said it was “easy to see why” the King had come to that decision, based on what Harry had written in his new memoir, Spare, as well as the fact that the pair stepped down from Royal duties in 2020.

“Who can blame the King for putting their uninhabited cottage to another use?” she wrote in the column.

“What is harder to understand is the notion that being asked to vacate the cottage is ‘cruel’, as was claimed by the couple last week.

Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie, a close friend of the Sussexes, said he understood they are 'appalled' by the eviction.

A source close to the couple told him: “It all feels very final and like a cruel punishment.

“It’s like [the family] want to cut them out of the picture for good.”

It comes as King Charles has reportedly offered Prince Harry and Meghan a suite in Buckingham Palace when visiting the UK after kicking them out of Frogmore Cottage.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will relinquish the keys to their previous home in Britain, where they lived together before deciding to leave the royal family three years ago.

For future visits to England, King Charles will reportedly allow them to stay in a palace apartment, most likely to be Prince Andrew's old suite.

It's understood that Andrew has meanwhile been offered Frogmore Cottage as he's set to move out of Windsor's Royal Lodge.
