Karol G just did something almost nobody pulls off in Latin music: she took her own song down from the top spot. "Bby Wow," her team-up with Judeline and Rusowsky, vaulted from No. 5 to No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart for the week of Aug. 29, edging out her own hit "Ahí" with Drake, which slides to No. 4. It's the Medellín singer's 11th trip to No. 1 on that chart, and it's a feat no act has managed against themselves in almost two years.
Judeline and Rusowsky's Big Break
For the two Spanish artists riding shotgun on the track, reaching No. 1 is a first-time milestone in more ways than one — "Bby Wow" also became their debut chart-topper on Billboard's Hot Latin Rhythm Songs list, where it likewise jumped from fifth to first, and Billboard flagged it as the top-ranked pairing involving a Latin act currently sitting on that particular list. Judeline, whose given name is Lara Fernández Castrelo, told Billboard she's still catching up to how quickly it all happened, saying it's "hard to believe a song we recorded last month is already topping the charts." Her fingerprints are on more than just that one song — she has writing credits on four tracks from the album altogether, a list that also includes "Matadora" (it entered at No. 4) and "Te Llevas To" (No. 6), both of which arrived on Hot Latin Songs the week before "Bby Wow" took over.
An Album Still Dominating the Chart
The single's climb is one piece of a much bigger takeover. Karol G's sixth studio album, "No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto," out since Aug. 7, marked her fifth trip to the top of Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart and is now holding that position for a second consecutive week. At the peak of its rollout, 13 different songs from the record crowded onto Hot Latin Songs in a single week — a stretch that also produced guest turns from Drake and Bruno Mars. "Bby Wow" pulled in 6.1 million official U.S. on-demand streams in its tracking week, per Luminate figures cited by Billboard, and reached as far as position No. 38 on Billboard's all-genre Hot 100 tally, Karol G's best showing there in two years. "Ahí" wasn't a slouch either: its debut brought in 11.8 million streams worldwide, good for No. 44 on the Hot 100 and a berth at No. 103 on the Global 200, while "Still," the record's collaboration with Bruno Mars, notched the set's strongest Hot 100 opening at No. 41.
What It Means for South Florida and Houston Fans
There's a live-show angle here that matters for two of the audiences this outlet covers most closely. Karol G's "Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour" already got underway — she kicked things off with a pair of packed shows in Chicago back in late July — and the trek is now working its way toward Texas and Florida. It's set to stop at Houston's Reliant Stadium on Sept. 27 before landing at Miami Gardens' Hard Rock Stadium for two nights, Oct. 2 and Oct. 3, according to tour listings on Ticketmaster. For South Florida, the Hard Rock dates carry extra weight: it will be Karol G's first performance in the Miami market since August 2023, when she played the city on her "Mañana Será Bonito" tour, NBC 6 South Florida reported when the tour was first announced. Fans catching either stop this fall are likely to hear "Ahí" and "Bby Wow" fresh off their runs atop the Latin charts, alongside deeper cuts from a record that's currently dominating the genre almost on its own.
The Bigger Picture
What the past two chart weeks really show has less to do with any single track and more to do with how much ground Karol G is currently holding. "DTMF" no longer sits at No. 1, but it hasn't fallen out of the upper tier either — it's remained parked at No. 2 through the entire changeover. Karol G, meanwhile, has now spent back-to-back weeks running the very top of the chart with two different songs pulled from the same album. Not many acts have pulled off that particular trick: Bad Bunny is the only other recent example, back when his single "Nuevayol" gave way to his own "DTMF" as 2025 began. Among women, Karol G is the only one to have done it before — her own 2023 single "Qlona," featuring Peso Pluma, is what dethroned "Mi Ex Tenía Razón" that year. For scale, the longest No. 1 run of 2024 on this same chart was Karol G's own "Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido," which lasted 14 weeks — a fraction of "DTMF's" 72-week hold. Whether "Bby Wow" can stay on top anywhere near that long is the question next week's chart data will start to answer.
