Karnataka: Two Mysuru-Bengaluru trains delayed due to power failure

BENGALURU: Two trains on Bengaluru-Mysuru line were delayed, causing severe hardship to passengers on Monday morning.

6256 Mysuru-KSR Bengaluru Memu and 16215 Chamundi Express (Mysuru-Bengaluru) was delayed due to a power failure (OHE fault) between 9am and 10am near Nayandahalli halt.

Many passengers travelling to Majestic rushed to nearby Metro stations like Jnanabharathi, but they claimed staff there were ill-equipped to handle the rush. Some complained about poor integration between the railways and Metro stations to help passengers switch from one mode to another.

Doubling work may delay services till March 29

South Western Railway will complete Hindupur-Penukonda (37km) doubling work with electrification by this month-end, which will help it run more trains and ensure punctuality and speed of existing ones.

However, several trains on Yelahanka-Penukonda section will be delayed between March 21 and 29 due to this work. Officials said 16 trains will be cancelled, six partially cancelled and 14 will be diverted. The list of affected trains are available on swr.indianrailways.gov.in.
