BENGALURU: The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (ComedK) has said that it will go ahead with the counselling process for admission to engineering colleges this year and will not wait for Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) to conduct the seat selection process for the government seats, unlike in the previous years.
This year, the results of ComedK UG Entrance Test have been announced ahead of that of the Common Entrance Test (CET). Usually, CET and ComedK counselling process go hand in hand – KEA completes first round, followed by ComedK’s first round and so on. “We will go ahead with our counselling process. KEA holds the counselling process only after that of medical and dental counselling. By the time, we conduct our process, our colleges lose out on a good 4,000-5,000 students from other states. These students end up joining colleges in other states where the admission process would have been completed. We have been in that dilemma for the past 15 years and want to avoid that kind of wastage this time,” said S Kumar, executive secretary, ComedK.
