Karnataka: Six arrested for Bajrang Dal activist's murder in Shivamogga

SHIVAMOGGA: The Shivamogga police on Tuesday arrested four accused in the Hindu activist murder case.

With this the number of the arrested in the murder of Bajrang Dal activist Harsha rose to six as two accused were arrested on Monday evening.

Shivamogga SP Laxmi Prasad on Tuesday evening told reporters that all the four arrested were picked up from Bengaluru. According to him, after the murder the four had escaped from the city and were hiding in Bengaluru. All the six arrested in the case are residents of Shivamogga, the IPS officer stated.

The SP said that twelve suspects have been detained for questioning. But he refused to reveal the reason for the murder saying it will hamper the probe.

Meanwhile, 13 cases have been registered in connection with Monday violence in Seegahatti and New Thirthahalli road area. The police said 18 vehicles have been torched or damaged. Doddapete and Tunga Nagar police stations are considered as sensitive in the city.

This comes on a day when several right-wing leaders met Harsha's family members and extended financial support. They accused BJP of not doing anything to stop Hindu activists murder in the state. This comes on a day when Harsha family members started rituals.

Meanwhile, Shivamogga DC R Selvamani told reporters on Tuesday evening that the curfew has been extended till Friday morning. But there is 3 hours relaxation for people to buy essential commodities from 6 am. Commercial establishments have been ordered to close at 9 am. The school and colleges will remain closed till Thursday, he stated.
