Karnataka: Ornaments, hundi stolen from Tripura Sundari temple

MYSURU: Thieves have stolen valuables and the hundi from Tripura Sundari (Tibba Devi) temple in Muguru village of T Narsipur taluk on Saturday night. The incident came to light on Sunday morning when locals and priests visited the temple for routine puja.

The temple built in the 10th-century is in Muguru , a heritage village 10km from T Narasipura. Several historical structures and scriptures are found in this tiny village.

According to police, the miscreants entered the temple premises by jumping the compound wall. The thieves fled with gold and other ornaments used to decorate the deity. They also took away a steel hundi kept in the temple, police said. The value of the stolen ornaments is being ascertained, they added.

Police officials visited the spot on Sunday.

A dog squad and fingerprint experts also visited the scene. Special teams formed to investigate this theft incident.
