BENGALURU: A majority of the medical seats under the NRI/management quota in Karnataka, where medical seat blocking cases are an annual affair, have no takers during the regular and mop-up counselling sessions conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).
There are four quotas available in private medical colleges: Government, private, management and NRI. While the government and private quota seats get picked up like hot cakes, a large percentage of seats from other quotas have no takers, data from the department of medical education (DME) shows. An average of 12% of the total available seats are reserved for NRI/management quota each year.
