Karnataka is inching closer to bankruptcy, thanks to BJP govt: Siddaramaiah

MANGALURU: Congress legislative party leader Siddaramaiah said Karnataka is inching closer to bankruptcy after BJP came to power.

“People of Dakshina Kannada have deep knowledge in politics. We should not support any political party without proper analysis. It is essential for voters to analyse a political party to know whether it is pro-people or not. They should check whether the party responds to the grievances of people and see how BJP, which has been in power for the last two-and-a-half years, has turned corrupt,” he told Congress workers at Kallapu in Mangaluru on Saturday.

“I was also the CM of Karnataka for five years, and MLA UT Khader and Ramanath Rai were ministers. There were no personal allegations against us and no charges against our government. However, corruption is rampant in the state after BJP formed the government. It is not my opinion. Karnataka State Contractors’ Association president D Kempanna had sent a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying they are forced to pay 40% bribe for each government project. Do we need this government? We will expose BJP when we come back to power,” he said.

“BJP had told people that there is no funds because of Covid-19. In fact, they have spent only Rs 8,000 crore for Covid-19 management in the last two years. The last year’s state budget was Rs 2.37 lakh crore. This year’s budget is Rs 2.46 lakh crore. The government, despite spending only Rs 8,000 crore for Covid management, says no funds for other schemes. They have funds only to buy MLAs,” he claimed. “Today, I have come here to take part in the Urus programme at Ullal dargah. I will come to Ullal and other constituencies in the district again. I will speak in detail about corruption in the BJP government and their anti-people policies,” he said.
