Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai is like reformer Basavanna, says MP Pratap Simha

MYSURU: Mysuru- Kodagu MP Pratap Simha on Friday attacked his political opponents for targeting chief minister Basavaraj Bommai over his silence on many recent issues.

Speaking to reporters here, he described Bommai as a ‘working Basavanna ’ who works for people’s welfare adhering to principles of social justice like the 12th century social reformer without bothering to societal criticism, particularly from his political opponents.

“The chief minister is striving to implement the promises he made to people including providing grants to renovate the century-old KR Hospital, relief to Shakthidhama Rehabilitation Centre and reserving funds for extension of airport projects in the city, he said.

“People must not give much credence to remarks of former chief ministers HD Kumaraswamy and Siddaramaiah and the prophesy of Kodihalli Swamiji as they always issue confusing statements diverting the attention of people,” he said.

“Congress, JD(S) leaders were responsible for hijab and halal rows. They must have educated the Muslim people about the importance of wearing uniform in school and colleges. Instead, they mislead them by issuing confusing statements for vote bank politics. BJP is not involved in polarization of people on caste and religious lines, but opposition parties have indulged in appeasement politics over several years for minorities vote bank. Issues like hijab and halal are sorted out legally now,” he said.
