Karnataka CET toppers say consistency, focus and hard work helped them shine

BENGALURU: Consistency and focus are the keys to success, feel toppers of the Karnataka Common Entrance Test.

“Not panicking in the exam and staying calm also go a long way,” said Siddhartha Singh, the second rank holder in engineering stream and a student of Sri Chaitanya Techno School, Marathahalli. He said consistency, concentration and constant revision helped him score well, adding that the importance of solving practice papers can’t be underscored enough. His parents Raj Rajan and Vanita Singh are IT professionals.

Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on Saturday announced results of CET, held on June 16 and 17 across 486 centres. Of the 2,16,559 candidates who applied, 2,10,829 appeared for the test.

It holds the key to various courses in the state, including engineering, technology, yoga and naturopathy, farm science, agriculture, sericulture, horticulture, forestry, B Tech biotechnology, community science, agricultural engineering, food technology, fisheries, agriculture business management, B Pharma and Pharma D.

Shishir RK, student of Narayana E-Techno School in Vidyaranyapura, bagged first rank in BPharma (pharmacy) and the fourth in engineering stream. “Consistency and hard work helped me succeed,” said Shishir, who advises candidates to complete the entire syllabus and focus on their textbooks. Fascinated by technology since childhood, Shishir hopes to make it to Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.

Hrishikesh Nagbhushan Gangule, who topped BVSc veterinary science and BNYS (Bachelor of naturopathy and yogic sciences), said being regular with studies since grade 11 enabled him to reach where he is. A student of National Centre for Excellence, Hrishikesh focused on NCERT textbooks. “I joined Aakash Institute for NEET preparation, which helped me in CET as well. I study with regular breaks because studying for long hours can prove counter-productive,” said Hrishikesh.

“One must be clear of their goals and prepare in that direction. Do not be afraid of committing any mistakes and stay relaxed,” he suggested. Hrishikesh hopes to be a doctor, a dream he has harboured since he was nine years old, and make a difference to society.

Apoorv Tandon of National Public School, Yelahanka, bagged the first rank in engineering stream, while Arjun Ravisankar of HAL Public School, Bengaluru, topped agriculture.
