BENGALURU: While the government gears up to reopen schools in Bengaluru, amid a possible flattening of the third Covid-19 wave curve, the demand for new state syllabus schools appears to have plummeted, with a significant drop in the number of students opting for these schools.
The education department revealed that usually, in any given year, the demand to set up new schools as well as applications to add higher secondary grades to existing primary schools are anywhere between 2,500 and 3,000 by January. However, this year, the department has received only 600 applications.
