BENGALURU: With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) looking to spread its wings after its win in Punjab, and with Trinamool Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) showing that they can take on BJP, the saffron party and Congress in Karnataka are j ittery, especially since these parties are looking to make inroads in the state in next year’s assembly elections.
Naturally aligned against BJP, Congress’ main rival in Karnataka, these ‘regional’ parties besides Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), are weighing their options. The margin of victory between BJP and Congress winning candidates was less than 3,000 votes in about 20 constituencies in 2018, and the national parties worry that the presence of these smaller outfits would upset their apple carts.
