BENGALURU: As many as 27 Government First Grade Colleges (GFGCs) in the state do not have campuses of their own. They function out of buildings of schools or even other government departments like old courts and tahsildar offices and now the department of higher education is trying to get separate land and infrastructure for them.
With 21 GFGCs working out of schools and PU colleges, the higher education and primary & secondary education ministers met recently to discuss how the latter's land can be used for campuses for first grade colleges. "The primary & secondary education department has responded positively. The principal secretaries will soon work out how land can be shared. Once we get our own land, we'll construct the buildings. The district commissioners are also being roped in to discuss possibilities," said commissioner of collegiate education P Pradeep.
