Newcastle United cannot recall Karl Darlow for next weekend's Carabao Cup final against Manchester United.
The goalie is on loan at Hull - where he is yet to play - but the conditions of his January agreement to join the Championship club do not include the chance to bring him back for emergency cover. The need for another stopper emerged during the clash against Liverpool as Nick Pope was sent off in the first half.
It leaves Newcastle with former Liverpool star Loris Karius as the obvious choice for Wembley next week. The goalkeeper has not played a competitive game in England since the Champions League final with the Reds.

Assessing the goalkeeper situation: "We have Karius and Gillespie who have both trained very well. They are both in great physical condition & ready to play."
When asked about a potential recall for Darlow, Howe said: "I don’t believe so.”
Howe added: "There was real quality, we opened Liverpool up at times and created some real chances. That's the difference, they took their chances and we didn't take ours."
