The agent of Karim Adeyemi has confirmed Manchester United’s failure to sign the striker, as he nears a £33million move to Borussia Dortmund.
The 20-year-old Germany international has hit 23 goals for RB Salzburg this season to earn a move to the Bundesliga, where he looks set to replace the Manchester City-bound Erling Haaland and spearhead Borussia’s attack.
A move to Dortmund was Adeyemi’s priority despite interest from Old Trafford, according to the player’s agent, Thomas Solomon.
“We’re now close to completing the deal with Borussia Dortmund,” he told Fabrizio Romano. “There will be no release clause included in his five-year deal.
“Manchester United wanted to enter the race - but we want Borussia.”
United face a big rebuilding job ahead of Erik ten Hag’s first season in the hotseat, particularly without Champions League football to tempt in the game’s biggest stars.
A number of big-name players are set to leave the club when their contracts expire in the summer, including Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata.
