NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was taken to a hospital after suffering a broken hip at a concert in Los Angeles on Friday night.
Abdul-Jabbar’s representative, Deborah Morales, told TMZ Sports that the former Lakers and Bucks center shattered his hip due to an accidental fall.
It remains unclear which concert Abdul-Jabbar attended. The Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer was immediately transported to UCLA’s hospital following the incident. Morales said Abdul-Jabbar is “deeply appreciative” of the Los Angeles Fire Department and UCLA hospital’s medical team for their help and support.
Abdul-Jabbar, a six-time NBA champ and two-time scoring champ, was passed by Lakers star LeBron James on the all-time scoring list in February. The 76-year-old, who has dealt with a few medical issues in the past, appears on track to make a full recovery.
