Hotels and roadside eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar have been barred from cooking and serving non-vegetarian food during the pilgrimage, while owners have been directed to display their licences and other required documents, officials said on Tuesday.
Ahead of the Kanwar Yatra, which begins on July 30, the food safety department has launched its annual inspection drive across the yatra route to check compliance with food safety norms.
