After a decade as college football's worst Power Five team, Kansas is in its third year of newfound relevance under coach Lance Leipold.
However, the speed with which the Jayhawks have returned to competence hasn't deterred Kansas fans from celebrating landmark wins. That fact was borne out by the aftermath of the Jayhawks' 38-33 win over Oklahoma Saturday—the team's first win over the Sooners since 1997.
Kansas fans jubilantly stormed the David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium field and laid siege to a goal post, which was eventually paraded out of the 102-year-old stadium and deposited in nearby Potter Lake.

The Sooners entered the game undefeated and ranked fifth in the country, but quickly fell behind 14-0. The Jayhawks sweated out a lengthy lightning delay and Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel's 23-yard heave to the end zone as time expired; the win marked the highest-ranked Sooners team Kansas has beaten since 1984.
The Jayhawks, almost assuredly bound for the Top 25, close their season with Iowa State, Texas Tech, Kansas State and Cincinnati.
