Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs is facing another legal issue this offseason. Buggs, who is already dealing with two misdemeanor warrants related to second-degree cruelty to dogs, was recently arrested and booked in Tuscaloosa County Jail for domestic violence/burglary, as per jail records.
According to records, bail was set at $5,000, and it remains unclear if Buggs has been released from jail. The 27-year-old Buggs turned himself in last month in Tuscaloosa for the animal cruelty charges after two dogs were reportedly found severely malnourished and neglected on the back porch of a rental home where he was staying earlier this year.
When approached for a comment after posting bond, Buggs declined to speak and got into the truck of his bail bondsman. Neither the Chiefs nor Buggs' representatives have provided immediate comments on the situation. Buggs' lawyer suggested that his client's arrest may be part of an effort to target a hookah lounge owned by Buggs in the city.
Buggs was accused of leaving two dogs, a pit bull and a rottweiler, without food or water on the back porch of a Tuscaloosa home. The pit bull was euthanized in April, while the rottweiler is currently housed at the Tuscaloosa County Metro Animal Shelter.
It's worth noting that the Chiefs have faced various off-field incidents this offseason, including a car crash involving second-year receiver Rashee Rice. Rice was also accused of assaulting a photographer at a Dallas nightclub, although no charges were filed in that case.
Buggs, a former sixth-round pick out of Alabama by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019, joined the Chiefs as a practice squad member before their successful playoff run culminating in another Super Bowl title.
