Kangaroos aim to ambush in-form Dockers

Cameron Zurhaar says North Melbourne plan to ambush Fremantle at Optus Stadium on Friday night. (AAP)

North Melbourne forward Cameron Zurhaar says they plan to ambush Fremantle in Friday night's AFL clash at Optus Stadium.

The Dockers (6-1) are riding high in third spot following a five-match winning run, which included a three-point victory over Geelong at the Cattery last week.

Fremantle's depth will be put to the test this week after six players, including Rory Lobb and Griffin Logue, were forced into the health and safety protocols.

But with ruckman Sean Darcy, Heath Chapman, Hayden Young, Bailey Banfield and highly rated debutant Jye Amiss among the inclusions, Fremantle will still start as raging-hot favourites against the struggling Kangaroos (1-6).

Zurhaar was part of the Kangaroos team that posted a stunning 10-point boilover against West Coast in Perth in round 17 last year.

The 23-year-old hopes they can repeat the dose against Fremantle.

"We bring a lot of confidence from our win last year against West Coast," Zurhaar said.

"It was one of the best wins I've ever played in.

"We like it over here in the west. Hopefully we can come and ambush Fremantle."

The Kangaroos will be without leading goalscorer Nick Larkey following his one-match ban for tunnelling.

Larkey has booted 17 goals this season, with the next best being Jack Ziebell on seven and Zurhaar on six.

Zurhaar said the presence of 31-year-old Ziebell up forward would prove invaluable as they attempt to fill the void left by Larkey.

"It's a big spot to fill. I'm going to miss Nick. He's one of my dear friends," Zurhaar said.

"But I'm sure we can fill it with some of the young talent that we've got."
