Prior to his stint at Washington, DeBoer had tremendous success at alma mater Sioux Falls, winning three NAIA national titles. He then went on to achieve rapid success at Fresno State before joining the Huskies, amassing a 25-3 record during his tenure.
However, leaving his Washington players, who came very close to a national title, was an emotional decision for DeBoer. Despite the difficulty, he knew that taking on the challenge of coaching the Alabama football program was something he truly wanted to do.
While DeBoer's arrival brings excitement and anticipation, there are also challenges to navigate. One major task will be re-recruiting current players who may have the option to transfer. Some high-profile players, including cornerback Dezz Ricks and wide receiver Isaiah Bonds, have already entered the transfer portal or announced their plans to do so.
