Juventus 'open transfer talks with Tottenham star' as Serie A giants eye summer squad upgrade

Juventus are weighing up moves for two Premier League stars as they look to revamp their squad this summer - and they have already opened talks with one Tottenham star.

Luciano Spalletti took over the Bianconeri in October after new-Tottenham boss Igor Tudor’s dismissal, bringing them up to fifth in Serie A with 12 matches yet to play.

He initially joined on a contract through the end of the season, but, amid reports he is set to sign a new long-term deal with the club, he has begun to plan his summer transfer business.

And he has earmarked goalkeeper as a problem position which needs addressing.

Michele Di Gregorio has been the side’s No1 this season, with 33-year-old Mattia Perin and 35-year-old Carlo Pinsoglio his understudies, but has come in for scrutiny after producing some glaring errors in recent weeks.

With Di Gregorio off the boil and his backups ageing, Juventus are prepared to bring in at least one top goalkeeper this summer.

Top of their shortlist, according to a report in Gazzetta, is Liverpool shotstopper Alisson, whose contract will expire in summer 2027.

Juventus’ executives are optimistic they could secure the 33-year-old’s services in a cut-rate deal, reuniting him with Spalletti, whom he played under at Roma before moving to Merseyside.

It is also thought that Liverpool may be prepared to sanction his exit, with Giorgi Mamardashvili waiting in the wings.

Juventus are yet to confirm their budget, but should they be able to afford multiple ‘keepers, they will look to bring Tottenham’s Guglielmo Vicario back to his home country.

Vicario joined Tottenham from Empoli in 2023, but he could move on this summer as his camp have already held talks with Juventus, who are looking to beat Inter Milan to the punch.

It is thought they could lure him away from Spurs for around €25-30 million (£21.7-26.1m).

Tottenham may well be willing to sell, too, as reports emerged today claiming they will look to overhaul their own squad this summer.

Juventus had also considered AC Milans’ Mike Maignan as a target, but were put off when he signed a five-year contract extension in January.

Marco Carnesecchi of Atalanta, a boyhood Juventus fan, has also been considered, but is expected to cost up to €50m (£43.5m).
