Justin Rose facts
1. Rose was born in Johannesburg, South Africa on July 30, 1980. His family moved to England when he was five years old.
2. He first broke 70 at the age of 11.
3. At the age of 14 his handicap was +1. He turned pro off of +3 aged 17.
4. He burst onto the scene with a tied fourth at the 1998 Open Championship as a 17-year-old amateur, but he then famously missed 21 cuts in a row to start his professional career.
5. He has 11 PGA Tour and 11 DP World Tour Tour victories throughout his career. Rose picked up the 2018 FedEx Cup too along with its $10 million pay cheque.
6. Rose became golf's first Olympic champion since 1904 when he won the gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. He also made history when he recorded the first hole-in-one in Olympic Golf.
7. Rose secured his only Major victory so far at the 2013 US Open at Merion. He has managed a best finish of second/T2 at The Masters (2015/2017), a runner-up result at the 2018 Open Championship, and a T3 at the PGA Championship in 2012.
8. Together with his wife, Kate, the Roses run the Kate & Justin Rose Foundation, benefitting the youth of Orlando (kjrosefoundation.org).
9. Rose has played in six Ryder Cups, winning four (2012, 2014, 2018, and 2023) and losing two in 2008 and 2016.

13. Rose grew up playing at Tylney Park, Southwood, and Hartley Wintney Golf Club in Hampshire. He then played most of his junior golf at the nearby North Hants.
14. Rose is married to former international gymnast Kate Phillips. They have two children called Leo and Charlotte.
15. He was awarded an MBE in 2016 for his services to golf.
16. He has homes in Albany in the Bahamas as well as one in the UK and one in Florida.
17. Rose went an entire year without missing a cut. That stretch lasted from the USPGA Championship in August 2017 until The Northern Trust in August 2018.
18. His swing coach was Sean Foley for a while, who has previously coached Tiger Woods. They split in 2020 after Rose said he wanted to oversee his own swing.
