Justin Rose admitted a feeling of relief after ending a four-year wait for his 11th PGA Tour victory. Rose got himself back into the winners' circle after securing victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am by three shots.
Rose's final round at Pebble Beach was a disrupted one, after play on Sunday was cut short with the Englishman nine holes in. He headed into Monday's play two shots ahead of the field, and was keen to further extend his advantage at the top.
And that he did, as the former world No. 1 secured three birdies in his opening five holes of the day from the 10th, in a perfect start for the 42-year-old.
Rose went on to card a superb six-under par 66 in his final round at the iconic California course to ensure he was the man to get his hands on the trophy. It had been a long time coming for the Englishman, who had endured a difficult run in recent years.
Speaking after his win, Rose admitted a statistic that appeared on TV over breakfast, showcasing his winless run, spurred him onto victory across the final nine holes. He told Golf Channel: "Time flies by, doesn't it?! It's amazing how long it has been.
"I did happen to have my breakfast this morning and saw that come up on Golf Channel - 86 starts and so many missed cuts - and I was like 'hmm, that's not great reading!'"
He went on: "This is just a moment to say thanks to the people who did believe in me probably more than I do. My team have been incredible. My family at home, Kate, Leo and Lottie [his family] this one is for you guys I wish you were here at Pebble with me, what a place to win a tournament.

As well as ending his 86-start drought, his win in California also has big implications for his 2023 season. As a result, Rose has earned 500 FedEx Cup points for getting his hands on the trophy, whilst also securing a spot at both the US Open and PGA Championship later this summer.
