Justin Fields finished his third season with the Chicago Bears on Sunday not knowing whether he will return to the team next season.
The Bears currently hold the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL draft, and observers are speculating whether the team will draft a quarterback. If that’s the case, it’s likely Chicago will move on from Fields.
The 24-year-old addressed his status with the Bears (7–10) following a 17–9 loss at the Green Bay Packers, and he sounded a lot like someone delivering a goodbye message to the team and fans.
“That decision is not in my hands,” Fields said. “All I can control is what I did do. I gave it my all. Whether it’s here or not, I have no regrets. ... To the city of Chicago, love y’all. Appreciate the fans and the support from all the Bears, you know, and in case this is my last rodeo with y’all, appreciate y’all for everything.”

If this is the end of Fields’s tenure in Chicago, he will go out with a 10–28 record as a starter. In three seasons with the Bears, he’s completed 60.3% of his passes for 6,674 yards with 40 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions. Additionally, he has rushed for 2,220 yards and 14 touchdowns.
