Just Stop Oil protesters plan fresh chaos on Monday morning targeting 'key roundabouts'

Eco activists are said to be planning a new wave of action on Monday – by blocking roundabouts at rush hour.

Just Stop Oil protesters, who have been causing chaos on the M25 motorway, now plan to “march, swarm and block” major roundabouts in London.

An operational note obtained tonight by the Sunday Mirror, said: “We will cause maximum disruption by marching, as slowly as possible, from key roundabouts, in multiple teams and timed phases.

“To increase the disruption caused and invite a police response, this has to take place at the time of highest traffic, that is, morning rush hour.

“There will be a short march route for each team... then, to mix things up, team members will travel to a second location… to do it all over again and keep the police on their toes.”

Commander Karen Findlay, of the Metropolitan Police, said the force was “fully prepared” to deal with the disruption.

But Just Stop Oil believes its new demos will be “non-injunction breaking and will aim to be non-arrestable”.

The note, sent via encrypted message app Signal, said: “There will be no sitting down on the road… but as the traffic will still be moving behind the march, angry drivers are unlikely to leave their vehicles and they will only be slowed down for a short period of time.”

It added police will face “a dilemma” of either allowing a “legal protest march” or threatening to arrest protesters.

Just Stop Oil has been protesting against new fossil fuel contracts since October 1 in what it calls the “biggest ever civil disobedience campaign”.
