Just Eat rider in hospital after being hit by car on busy road

A Just Eat rider is in hospital after being hit by a car at a busy crossroads.

The Just Eat rider was on his motorbike at the junction of Boundary Street and Vauxhall Road in Vauxhall, at around 4.45pm on Wednesday, January 11, when he was hit by a white Vauxhall Astra. Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance Service were called to the scene and closed the crossroads while they worked at the scene.

The driver of the Astra stopped at the scene, with eyewitnesses saying they were "very sympathetic" and "worried" about the rider.

The crossroads where reopened at around 5.45pm, with two men from Just Eat making sure the man's bike was secure and picking up the pieces of debris from the scene.

One of the men said: "He's alright [the rider], he's conscious. He's been taken to A&E now and seems in good spirits considering.

"The driver stopped at the scene and was very sympathetic about the whole thing, he was worried about the rider."

Police are now appealing for information following the crash and are asking any witnesses and CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist their investigation.

A spokesperson from the force said: "At around 4.45pm, emergency services were called to a report of a collision involving a white Vauxhall Astra and a man on a scooter on Boundary Street. An ambulance has taken the man to hospital with a minor injury.

"The road was closed while incident was being dealt with and has now been reopened. Please contact us @MerpolCC or Crimestoppers anonymously 0800 555 111 with reference 723 of 11 January."
