There has been a mistrial in the case of a family practice doctor charged with allegedly raping a woman who was his patient.
Praveen Kumar, 57, pleaded not guilty in the District Court in Townsville yesterday to seven charges of rape.
But the jury was discharged today, the second day of the trial.
It was alleged Mr Kumar raped the woman seven times between 2016 and 2017.
Prosecutors yesterday alleged Mr Kumar met the woman while she was his patient while he was working as a general practitioner at My Family Doctors in Townsville in July 2014.
Crown prosecutor Tom Hancock told court on the first day of the trial that the woman had sought treatment for her mental health at the time.
Mr Hancock said Mr Kumar made an advance on the woman during a medical appointment in September 2014.
Mr Kumar had pleaded not guilty and there has been no finding against him.
Mr Kumar is due to appear in the same court on Friday for a mention of his case.
