Jurrien Timber has admitted that he could leave Ajax in the summer transfer window if he found a move that was the right 'fit.'
Manchester United showed brief interest in the versatile defender following Erik ten Hag's arrival at the club. The new manager focussed his early transfer dealings on players he was familiar with from Ajax or the Eredivisie in general but instead turned his attention to another Amsterdam man in the shape of Lisandro Martinez, as Timber favoured staying in the Netherlands to boost his World Cup prospects.
It's set to be yet another busy summer for United as they look to strengthen in a number of positions and though a striker and midfielder are the biggest priorities, the back-line could once again see new additions. Harry Maguire has been earmarked for a departure and the captain would need to be replaced if he was sold while Ten Hag is also keen on another quality option at right-back.

Thankfully, 21-year-old Timber, though predominantly a centre-back, is more than capable of playing either position and has opened the door to a summer transfer. “For me it is the same situation as last season. If I say: I’m leaving, it has to fit,” Timber said to Ziggy Sport, quoted by Voetbal Primeur.
“Playing style is important, playing minutes… Participating in the prizes is also important. My favourite country? I dare not say that.
“That’s why I’m doing the same as last season. The chance is there, it can happen, but I’m also good here. I’m still young and everything suits me here. I’m going to take a look.”
United were keen on signing Timber last summer but any potential move fell through when the Dutchman opted to stay at Ajax following a warning from Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal that his spot in the national team for the World Cup would be at risk if he made a move and did not play. Liverpool are also credited with an interest ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
