Jurgen Klopp has admitted Liverpool have only themselves to blame after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Wolves to set up an FA Cup third round replay at Molineux.
The Reds trailed after Goncalo Guedes took advantage of a poor Alisson Becker kick, only to turn the game on its head courtesy of goals from Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah. But further defensive errors saw Hwang Hee-chan equalise, with a controversial offside decision ruling out a late Wolves goal to, temporarily at least, keep Liverpool in the competition.
Reflecting on the performance after the game, Klopp conceded his side weren’t good enough on the night.

“Good start in the game. Dominant. Played well, tried to create. Had half-chances and good moments,” he told reporters after the final whistle. “They had this scrappy moment where they scored. We win the ball there but Ali kicks the ball to their feet and we are 1-0 down.
“That impacted the game. They got more confident. We played okay but not really convincing.
“The goal we scored was outstanding. We had a few really good balls we played. A few good situations where we played in their formation but for the whole game I thought we didn’t win enough challenges to be honest.
“There were a lot of situations where we thought we win the challenge but all of a sudden we are completely open. How is that possible? Two or three players in the challenge, moving to the ball side when you are there. If we don’t do that and can’t get out, it looks like where are they?
“That meant they constantly stayed in the game. Anyway, we go 2-1 up. It was not an open game. Nothing didn’t really happen a lot but we still kept not winning these challenges around the second goal.
“We’re in possession, have the ball, but I don’t know why, we give the ball away. Then they go in our box without a real challenge. That’s difficult. The ball comes in and it’s difficult. It’s unlucky, Ibou is there but it hits Hwang and the ball rolls over the line. Unlucky, 2-2. That’s the result.
“We didn’t deserve more than a draw tonight. The consequences are in this case there is an extra game. That’s fine, I have no problem with that. Wolves are probably more happy with it than we are but until then we will be happy enough to give it a go.”
