Analyst Dominic Price has left Liverpool to join former Reds striker Robbie Keane at Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv.
Price, who was Liverpool's post match analyst, has been appointed as Maccabi's technical director and will work closely with Keane who recently became their new manager. Price initially joined Liverpool in 2011, working as a coach for their international football academies.
He then left to join Blackpool in 2020, where he linked up with former Liverpool Under-23s boss Neil Critchley as a first team performance analyst. After Critchley left Blackpool, Price returned to Liverpool to work as a first team analyst where he became a 'highly-regarded member of the backroom staff', according to the Athletic.
The report adds that Liverpool did not want Price to leave, but 'appreciated' the fact that becoming Maccabi's technical director 'represented a major promotion'. "Dominic will manage all technical aspects of the First Team operations including recruitment, performance analysis, sports science data and its interaction with the medical department," explained Maccabi CEO Ben Mansford.
"Dominic will also further embed best practice across Maccabi’s Youth Academy in the same areas as we look to drive forward with greater analysis and integration of data to support the Club's continued progression. We are convinced Dominic's proven skills and attributes will help push Maccabi forward."
Keane, meanwhile, took his first real management job last month when he joined Maccabi after a brief stint as Sam Allardyce's assistant at Leeds last season. The 42-year-old replaced former Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and Birmingham manager Aitor Karanka.
"I am happy to take on this challenge at Maccabi," Keane said. "My team and I are already looking forward to starting work and we are confident in our ability to do what is necessary to prepare the team for the upcoming season."
Maccabi owner Mitch Goldhar added: "Robbie brings with him the mentality, character, energy and focus of a winner, qualities that he demonstrated everywhere he played. These characteristics combined with the ambitions to succeed as a coach are in line with our goals at Maccabi."
Premier League cult hero Rory Delap will be Keane's assistant, while Andy Liddell has been appointed senior fitness coach having worked with Keane during his time as Ireland's strength and conditioning coach. Performance analyst Phillip Hudson has also been poached from Middlesborough, where Keane previously worked as an assistant manager.
