Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Fabio Carvalho could play in up to four positions for Liverpool after his summer switch to Anfield.
The Reds secured the services of the 19-year-old earlier this summer with a deal becoming official this month - the Merseyside outfit paying a reported £5m for his services. Having caught the eye with his excellent performances with Fulham, he is expected to be eased into the action due to his tender years.
Despite that, it is clear that he has already caught the eye of Klopp following his move and subsequent arrival. The German has praised Carvalho for his 11-goal season last term as Fulham earned promotion back to the Premier League.
Speaking to the Reds’ official website, he said: “Fabio, wow, what a season he played with Fulham. Getting promoted [with a] football-playing [style], properly football-playing, is not easy.
“So, Marco Silva obviously did an incredible job there, but a big part of that was absolutely Fabio. And Harry Wilson obviously, our former [player], and Neco [Williams] of course.”
It is already clear that Klopp has plans in place for Carvalho during his time at Anfield. He has suggested that his versatility lends perfectly to a place in the Liverpool side both now and in the future although he is unsure his strongest position.

He continued: “When we watched him it was a pure joy to watch him, absolutely. He can play so many different positions for us, the way we play. At the minute he’s not really set on one position – it’s the wing, it’s the eight, it’s the 10, it’s the false nine if he grows a few more muscles.
“It’s a short-term and a long-term project; he can start tomorrow and he needs to adapt, you can see that a little bit, but when he has the ball that’s proper quality. I’m over the moon that he’s here. Fantastic prospect.”
Carvalho is just one of three exciting young players to have arrived on Merseyside this summer. 18-year-old defender Calvin Ramsay was signed from Aberdeen, whilst Darwin Nunez could potentially become the Reds’ record signing having completed a big-money switch from Portuguese giants Benfica.
Whilst they have welcomed a few new places, a host of the Reds’ young players could potentially be on the way out of the club. Academy graduate Nathaniel Phillips has been linked with a summer exit having spent half of last season on-loan with Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, Neco Williams and Sepp van den Berg have both been rumoured to be on the way out of Anfield sooner rather than later - Nottingham Forest reportedly keen on sealing a big-money move for the former as they continue strengthening their squad upon their return to the Premier League.
