Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been nominated for the Ally of the Year accolade in the upcoming 2022 British LGBT Awards.
The Reds boss is in esteemed company as the list of his fellow nominees for the gong include Formula 1 superstar Lewis Hamilton, actor Daniel Radcliffe and Little Mix icon Jade Thirlwall.
The award has previously been won by Pop Icon and former Spice Girl Melanie C and the entire ceremony is designed to highlight LGBT+ activists, allies and celebrity figures who contributed to helping progress the rights of the LGBT+ community over the last year.
The Premier League and Champions League winning manager was confirmed as a nomination on Tuesday morning well in advance of the ceremony, which will take place on June 24 in London.
Klopp is a well-known supporter of LGBT+ community and took the time to sit down and talk to Liverpool supporters group Kop Outs in August of last year to address homophobic chants that were sung by Reds fans at Norwich City midfielder Billy Gilmour.
During the discussion, Klopp said: "It's from no perspective the nicest song in the world - so it is not necessary.
"It obviously makes people uncomfortable in our own fan group. For our supporters' group and for me, that means: ''Done, let's go for another one'".
Not only is Klopp up for an award, but Liverpool as an entire club have also had their work acknowledged for their Red Together campaign which was nominated for the brand or marketing campaign award.
Other huge companies such as LEGO and Levi’s for their Everyone Is Awesome set and the All Pronouns All Love campaign respectively.
Founder of the British LGBT Awards, Sarah Garrett, said: "These awards shine a light on those who have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the LGBT+ community, during what has been another very challenging 12 months for the community.
"The nominees, which include an exciting mix of famous LGBT+ faces, allies and organisations have all demonstrated a commitment to advancing LGBT+ rights.
"The awards on 24 June will be a huge celebration of our culture."
A-list names such as Lady Gaga, Alan Carr and Olly Alexander are amongst the other big names who are up for different awards.
Josh Cavallo, the first top-flight footballer to come out as gay, has been shortlisted for the Media Moment prize.
Klopp's immediate focus is on trying to inspire his troops to catch league-leaders Manchester City who currently boast a nine-point advantage over them.
Liverpool sit second in the Premier League but have played one game less than City, providing them with the chance to reduce the deficit to just six points with less than 14 games to play.
