Jurgen Klopp confirmed he watched some, but not all, of Manchester City’s 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace on Monday night. It was a significant result in the title race as the draw meant that Liverpool can now pull themselves to just a point behind Pep Guardiola’s men if they secure a victory at Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Despite the ramifications of the game, Klopp stated he turned it off just after the hour mark. “I watched the City game for exactly 65 minutes for analysis reasons, believe it or not. I thought Palace did well, but City did really well as well and just didn't finish their situations off. I didn't watch the last 30 minutes. Saw the result and was surprised”.
Klopp’s comments have been met with some scepticism and Liverpool fans have instead since questioned why he only watched just over an hour of the match, and whether there was another alternative motive for watching the game for that length of time. One of the more popular theories is that the Liverpool boss wanted to watch exciting Crystal Palace midfielder in action against one of the division’s elite sides.
