Jurgen Klopp has admitted he thought Wolves’ late disallowed strike against Liverpool was a goal as the Reds fought out a 2-2 draw in the FA Cup third round on Saturday night.
Wolves thought they had scored a winner late on when Toti flicked home following a corner, only for it to controversially be ruled offside after the ball came back to corner-taker Matheus Nunes, who was linked with a move to Liverpool earlier this month, for him to cross it back in.
However, VAR was unable to make a decision either way on the goal courtesy of not having the right camera angle, ensuring it was disallowed off the back of the assistant referee’s original decision.

Comparing the situation to a goal Liverpool conceded away at Arsenal back in October, Klopp sympathised with Wolves as he admitted he had thought it was a goal in-play, before hitting out at how VAR wasn’t able to boast the full angles to come to a decision.
“I don’t really know (if it was a goal). On the pitch, I couldn’t see it so had no idea. I thought it was a goal,” he told reporters. “It was the player in the left corner. He might have been offside.
“We have one angle which I saw in the dressing room where it could have been offside. I wouldn’t swear on it, I don’t know. It could be but I think this angle, the VAR didn’t have if I’m right? That’s what I heard.
“We had a similar situation in the Arsenal game where one angle was missing. In the end everybody thought it was a clear offside but we couldn’t prove it because the angle was not there.
“I don’t know how these things can happen but it happened. So I understand the frustration of Wolves because you want to have the right decision in these moments like we wanted the right decision back then but I cannot say anything about it because I only saw one camera perspective.”
