Jurgen Klopp makes two Liverpool changes as Roberto Firmino absence explained for Manchester United

Jurgen Klopp makes two changes to his Liverpool team as Jordan Henderson returns to face Manchester United at Anfield.

The captain was left on the substitutes' bench for Saturday's 3-2 FA Cup win over Manchester City but is back in the side in a midfield three with Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho.

Joel Matip also steps into the team in place of Ibrahima Konate as he partners Virgil van Dijk at centre-back for the visit of Ralf Rangnick's Red Devils.

That means Sadio Mane once more leads the line with Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz on the right and left respectively up top with Liverpool knowing that a win will take them two points clear at the top of the Premier League this evening.

Diogo Jota is left in reserve on the bench but there is no place for Roberto Firmino, who misses out with a minor foot injury, with Divock Origi stepping in for the Brazil international this evening.

Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Thiago, Henderson; Salah, Mane, Diaz.

Subs: Kelleher, Konate, Milner, Keita, Gomez, Jones, Jota, Tsimikas, Origi.
